I train in the Martial Arts, and part of our training is self defense. I am also a member of the Rhode Island Women's Health Advisory Council, a subcategory of the Rhode Island Board of Health. In coordination with both of these organizations, I am going to arrange a self defense class that will take place in my school. This class is geared toward preparing young women for college or lifs situations that may arise. It teaches them awareness as prevention of assault or abuse, and it also teaches basic self defense moves that will keep young women safe should a dangerous situation arise. This will improve the safety of young women. The class is going to take place at my school, La Salle Academy in early May.
