We will be holding litter-free events throughout the spring and summer. One of the events consists of collecting litter and debris at Keystone State Park and at Keystone Lake on Saturday, March 8th. Another event is a countywide picnic scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd at Hunter Park which will be promoted as a litter free event. We will also do trash pickup at the park. During the Tulsa County Leadership Institute scheduled for June 3rd – 6th Tulsa County 4-H youth leaders will plant flowers and shrubs at a local public facility. Each of the thirteen Tulsa County 4-H Clubs will be asked to plan an event for their club. Also, on April 2nd, Tulsa County 4-H members will be at the state capitol meeting with legislators where they plan to discuss their involvement in the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful campaign and get recommendations for additional activities.
Our goal is to contribute to the beautification of Tulsa and surrounding cities. Tulsa is a beautiful city and we want to keep it that way. We also think this is an excellent opportunity for tomorrow’s leaders to learn about this phase of community service. This will be our second year to participate in the Great American Cleanup in Oklahoma. We accomplished so much last year and the extra funding allowed us to make a larger impact on the community.
