We are trying to start Camp Kesem in Atlanta. This camp is aimed at kids whose parents have or had cancer and it is already established at various other universities around the country. We are hoping to have the camp running in the summer of 2009 and to start things off, we held a Camp Kesem Kick-off Carnival in a park in Atlanta. This carnival had food, games and other activities for little kids. We had many people stop by, including several potential campers. We were able to spread the word a little bit about the camp. This coming year, we need to raise at least $25000, as that is our estimate of running a week long camp. We will also be contacting potential campers through hospitals, support groups, etc. We will need to logistically organize the camp, including finding an appropriate location, organizing activities, making provisions for food, etc. We are basically starting at square one right now!
