Remaining healthy and fit helps keep kids out of trouble and physically strong. Usually, they are more likely to resist the lure to smoke or engage in drug use. Young people do so much better being focused and busy with positive things to do. That is why I am very interested in health and fitness programs for youth. Staying fit and healthy seems to also be helpful with self esteem. I would like to see more effort in health and fitness guidance in schools, not just one physical education course; but also including information about the importance of nutrition during the days and how diet and fitness helps thinking and academic performance. I had to take so many different courses to get the information. If you do not choose certain electives, you may never get the combination of fitness, health and nutrition in one class.
