My Algebra 2 class and I are doing a tree planting project to contribute to the Billion Tree Campaign so we can help counteract deforestation and global warming in many places in the world. We plan on planting at least 15 trees around our school, and currently trying to involve parents by requesting donations or at least planting a tree or two in their backyard.
The Billion Tree Campaign is a nonprofit organization encouraging people to plant as many trees as possible around their houses, neighborhoods, or anywhere they can. They are hoping to reach their goal of 1,000,000,000 trees planted by the end of the year 2007. So far people have planted 10,292,285 trees, but other people have pledged to plant 808,631,178 trees by the end of the year. We wish to add to the planted number and help contribute to the billion tree goal. The purpose of this campaign is to spread awareness to people around the world.
