Hoooooooooo, snap! Just as Arizona was gearing up to put its new immigration law into effect today, a federal judge put a stop to the legislation. The Justice Department, civil rights groups and an Arizona police officer asked a federal judge to prevent the law from being enforced. One of the most controversial parts of the law- requiring police check the immigration status while enforcing other laws- is on hold.
