House Dems unveil new health care bill

House Democrats disclosed a 2,000 page health care bill today, in another attempt to propose an overhaul of the current health care system in America.

This most recent bill is a combination of three versions passed by different sub committees of the House of Representatives. It would cost $894 billion over 10 years and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said today that it will cover 36 million Americans who do not have health insurance currently.


Latina teen suicide rate sparking concern

CNN's story on the issue begins with the story of twelve-year-old Francisca Abreu, who was so distraught she contemplated suicide. Her mother had no idea Francisca was in serious trouble until her school called. Such a disconnect between mothers and daughter is contributing to a alarming number of suicidal Latina teenagers.

The CDC says that one out of every seven Latina teens (14%) attempts suicide. That's almost double their white counterparts and 5% more than black girls.
