What Makes This Event So Great?

All the awesome people, organizations, and opportunities you'll find there. Thanks to some of the groups listed below, the Youth Action Fair is full of ways for you to step up and take action

Lil Mama! and Voice of the Young People

On Sept. 27th, she'll be representing her generation and using her voice to encourage the 18-25 year olds in New York to register and vote in this year's presidential election! On 9/27 and every day, Lil Mama is a young person taking action in her own community to support her causes. She will take the stage at 12 p.m. to speak out for VYP, Voice of the Young People - this time the V stands for VOTE! She'll be encouraging all 18-25 year olds to register on the spot to vote in this year's crucial election.

Relight New York

Put your own team together and join by adopting and switching NYC buildings over to CFL light bulbs. One by one, we can help the entire city conserve massive amounts of energy, which will help to create a better environment, and future, for us all.

Mayors Volunteer Center

The Mayor's Volunteer Center of NYC, a program of the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, brings together individuals, corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations in order to connect people and facilitate meaningful volunteer opportunities that significantly improve the quality of life in New York City. Their goal is to make every New Yorker a volunteer. For more information, visit www.nyc.gov/volunteer or call 311.

Team Revolution

Their mission is to create a generation of community leaders and social entrepreneurs. To accomplish this, they provide self-development programs, community service projects, and an empowering educational environment for young people. Founder, Divine Bradley, will speak at the event.

Driving For Donors

Driving for Donors breaks down the barriers for bone marrow donor registration. With a simple cheek swab, you can sign up to be part of the donor registry - and maybe save a life. An effort started by 13 year-old leukemia patient Pat Pedraja, Driving for Donors has added over 6500 new potential donors to the registry.

Educational Video Center

EVC empowers teens to create documentary films on challenging social issues from their own unique perspective. Their films are award-winning films and are used by educators and service providers to shed light on the issues that matter to you. Journeys Through the Red, White, and Blue will be screening at the Fair and EVC will be facilitating Voter Registration for those over 18.

18 in 08

18 in 08 is a nonpartisan documentary film made by 19 year old director, David D. Burstein, explaining what's at stake in this year's election. The film will screen at the Youth Action Fair to shed light on the political process and the importance of the youth vote.
