Go 'Silent' This Memorial Day

This weekend is Memorial Day. Get ready for barbeques, beach, and tons of family/friend time. And to ensure we don’t forget the real meaning of the holiday (no it’s not the “unofficial” start of summer), the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is launching a “Go Silent” campaign.

IAVA is encouraging Americans to stop and honor those who have died defending our country. “Go Silent” asks for a pledged moment of silence on Memorial Day at 12:01 p.m. ET. This time of remembrance will coincide with the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

“We invite those who sign our online petition to [create] a simple but powerful, unified expression of remembrance,” said IAVA in a release.

Over 3,000 people have pledged their silence. Add your name to the ranks.

What can you do?

  • Sign up for the “Go Silent” campaign and have your family and friends take part too.
  • More ways to honor our troops on Memorial Day.
