We’ve all seen Jennifer Lawrence kick butt on screen as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. But now, she’s kicking butt off screen as well by raising money and awareness for one of her favorite charities.
And better yet, she’s doing it in a way that’s super exciting for her fans. Tributes (aka Hunger Games fans) shouldn’t have to wait for the release of the franchise’s next installment, Catching Fire, which is why Jennifer is giving them a chance to see it BEFORE it opens in theaters.
She’s hosting a screening of Catching Fire in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to raise money for St. Mary’s Center, an organization that supports teens and adults with intellectual disabilities. Tickets to the early showing of the movie are selling for $125 and 100% of every ticket sale goes directly to the organization!
In a note, Jennifer wrote about the special screening explaining that her friendship with a boy with Down Syndrome inspired her to become involved with organizations like St. Mary’s Center. She includes, “I am asking you to give generously, so that children and adults with intellectual disabilities, like my good friend Andy, will continue to have a place to go to learn.”
We think this is awesome. Not only is Jennifer raising money for a great cause, but she’s giving her fans an opportunity to see Catching Fire early–basically every fans dream!
