The #RealPrincess campaign is over! In case you missed it, here's what happened.
From 2007 to 2012, only 30.8% of the speaking characters in the top 500 movies were women. It's no surprise that we want to see more empowered female characters on screen. We know that companies like Disney are making moves to empower their princesses (heeeey, Elsa!), and we're all for it. Promoting self-sufficient and complex female characters leads to other similar representations of women in media.
Our members used our template to join Disney's promotion of strong female characters on screen by creating new, badass princesses with unique traits and goals (that didn't include finding a Prince Charming). Check out some amazing submissions below!

"This campaign cause is important to me because I like the direction Disney has been taking its princesses and I think more books and movies should show empowered women who can inspire young girls to be more confident and empowered themselves."
