Describe what this winner does/did:
Sean founded the St. Joseph's Carpenter Society which seeks out abandoned homes which they renovate and sell to low and moderate income families. The Carpenter Society takes the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” and uses it to help the underserved of New Jersey. Owning a house is a big deal: families that come to own their own homes are able to really establish their families’ roots, and in doing so they gain a sense of community, stability and self-confidence. The Carpenter Society offers not only affordable housing, but improved quality of life and safer neighborhoods.

As a result of Sean’s investment in the community, total housing values in East Camden have doubled to $100 million over the last decade. He then moved on from the organization to work in the private sector.
