SFC was first created as a University of Arizona student club. Its mission consists of several steps. Firstly, SFC recognizes and advocates youths as the primary demographic to be targeted for a preventative measure to be implemented towards due to the pervasive early onset of obesity. Secondly, SFC wants to teach youths, particularly students, how to maintain a healthy physical homeostasis through diligence, confidence, and discipline. Thirdly, SFC uses trained youth volunteer mentors and certified youth volunteer trainers to promote physical development and health curriculum in free programs at schools. Because obesity is a heterogeneous complex mixture of genetic, biological, behavioral, and cultural causes our last goal is to emphasize a positive attitude in one’s health through the SFC curriculum, rather than a development of physical vanity.
