The Alpha Esquire Mentoring and Leadership Program is sponsored by the national fraternity of Alpha Phi Alpha. This group builds the character of individuals between the ages of 13-18. Meetings are held every Monday beginning with a study session from 5:30 to 6:30. The men of Alpha Phi Alpha (both the local college chapter and the Alumni chapter) assist in tutoring the members of the Esquire program. This program also offers a plethora of community service to young individuals including the postal food carrier drive, crim festival of races, and project ALPHA, just to name a few. Over the past few months this program celebrated it's 10 year anniversary. Also, with that milestone we elected new officers. I, Ja'Nel LaVon Jamerson was elected secretary of the program which put on the executive committee. All of the gentlemen of the Alpha Esquire Program should be commended for their strives in community service and deeds. The program also has a scholarship program that allows each member to receive funds to assist them with their future endeavors after high school. The scholarship ranges from 100 dollars to 1000 dollars depending on standing with the group. I am not a founder of this group, I am merely a small part in a large machine of support that keeps this dynamic group afoot.
