Dance Dance Revolution: The Next Step to Fighting Childhood Obesity

The Problem

Right now, today, over 9 million young people are overweight, three times as many as in the 1980s. That is over 15% of all adolescents, and the numbers will continue to increase unless our communities and families work to create safer, healthier lifestyles for our children. Sedentary lifestyles and poor diet are often to blame for overweight and obese children; however we seem to forget that this disease is the second leading cause of preventable deaths in the U.S. Physical education plays a vital role in the health of our children, and its importance cannot be understated or ignored.
