Hazel Park High Mentorship Program

Official Dosomething.org Project

The Problem

This program was started to help incoming Freshmen feel comfortable about starting high school. We have the upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) be mentors to the freshmen. We help them be able to open up about anything not be afraid that someone is prejudging them. Once a month we have a little follow up program called the Enpowerment Zone, where we use all three lunches (A, B, C) and talk about whats been going on in their lives for the past 30 days. And we try to come to a conclusion about what we should do reduce the number of fights, dropouts and other violence or distractions there is in the school to prevent students from getting the education that they need to move on in life.
