National Teen Driver Safety Week

Official Dosomething.org Project

The Problem

Every year there is a page in our High School yearbook dedicated to those who lost their lives in car wrecks throughout the year. I wanted to raise awareness about the dangers of teen driving and passenger distractions.

Plan of Action

I contacted several local businesses for help. CVS, Dunkin Donuts, and Food Lion all donated items to the meeting. My high school principal supported me by allowing me to distribute letters to students and make announcements at school. The Fork Union Driving Academy brought tips for students. I involved a State Trooper and a local Deputy to give presentations in their areas of expertise as well as a presentation about insurance costs by Eric. I gave a presentation about driving from a teen's point of view and how being "cool" can mean being dead if you're not careful.
