The Pocahontas Project

The Problem

Seeing as how April is Earth month, we have joined forces with a local elementary school in order to encourage the students there to commit to a cleaner, greener environment.

Plan of Action

Every Thursday, kids from Crawford Woods Elementary gathered in the cafeteria to discuss recycling and going green through art. Each week had a different theme along with a project. One week, the kids made pirate telescopes out of paper towel rolls and flags out of paper they used in class, another week we made bird feeders using empty two liter bottles. The kids were really engaged and involved and actively discussed what recycling meant and really grew with their environmental awareness.
