SESSION 1 (9:40-10:35am EST)
Ideas into Action
Speakers: Crystal Bell, DoSomething.org, Member Strategist and Farah Sheikh, DoSomething.org, Campaigns Associate, Education
This session is for those of you that have a great idea or project that has just gotten underway, but need a little help fleshing out your plan of attack. This session will help you set goals, walk you through the steps to turn those goals into reality, and provide you with best practices for measuring and building on your progress.
SESSION 2 (10:35-11:40am EST)
Running an Outstanding Cause Campaign
Speakers: Alyssa Ruderman, DoSomething.org, Campaigns Associate and Sarah Piper-Goldberg, DoSomething.org, Campaigns Associate
Learn how to make your Do Something campaign the best it can be. Alyssa and Sarah will be showing you examples of successful projects, while giving you the tools to have outstanding results. Learn how to get more people involved, get participation from your school and have an all-around greater impact. This is a great session for anyone who is in a Do Something Club, wants to start one, or is interested in participating in one of our over 20 upcoming campaigns.
SESSION 3 (1:25-2:20pm EST)
Speaker: Keri Goff, DoSomething.org, Campaigns Graphic Designer
In an increasingly digital world, it is becoming more and more important to be digitally literate. How well do you know your digital tool kit -- both the free and industry-standard applications that are out there right now? Ever wonder how your favorite viral video was made? Or that awesome poster you saw on the street yesterday? Once you understand the tools that are at your disposal, John will show how to best harness them to tell your story -- be it about your idea, your cause, or your organization.
SESSION 4 (2:30-3:25pm EST)
Speaker: Baylee Greenberg, DoSomething.org, Business Development
In this session you will build the skills, confidence, and flexibility to be an effective communicator in any environment. You will learn to plan and organize your thinking so you can get to the point, while also being sensitive to your listeners. You will build the physical delivery skills to communicate with impact. You will learn how to develop visual aids to support your ideas-and how to get your points across without them when appropriate.
Speed Pitch Intro & Speed Pitching
Learn how to answer the age old question, “So, what do YOU do?” in a way that is clear, concise and compelling. In the style of speed dating, you will rotate around the room with two minutes to pitch your project or organization to not-for-profit and corporate professionals. The not-for-profit and corporate professionals will then provide two minutes of feedback on the successes and weaknesses of your pitch. Although it sounds a little scary, we promise you that you will learn a lot, have a ton of fun and maybe even win some money! The three attendees that receive the best overall feedback from the professionals will receive a $500 project grant.
