585,965 Individual Pieces of Product Collected
This campaign is over! In case you missed it, here's what went down:
Many of the 3.5 million Americans who experience homelessness each year have extremely limited access to period products (pads, tampons, etc.). In fact, period products are some of the most needed items in homeless shelters across the country.
That's why thousands of DoSomething.org members joined the FIRST AND MOST IMPACTFUL national period product drive. They collected over 300,000 period products to donate to local homeless shelters. Not only did their collections help people in shelters maintain menstrual hygiene (which, btw, is SO important for their overall health), but these crucial health supplies also help them reinvigorate their sense of dignity.
Thank you to everyone who ran badass drives! Not only did you ensure that people experiencing homelessness have consistent access to sanitary products, but you also helped to tackle the stigma around periods and those who get them.

"This campaign was an amazing experience, this was the first campaign I took apart in and I had a blast! Setting up boxes and talking to people about the importance of feminine products and how they can be taken for granted was a great teaching experience. Through the time frame of the campaign I heard so many stories about women that had been in shelters and how that was one thing they were rarely offered. These stories broke my heart. I loved being able to help make a difference. My products went to a shelter in Waco, TX. Where they'd be greatly used by young girls and teenagers going through tough times. Thank you so much for the opportunity and the blessing of this scholarship!"
