Stockings for Homeless Children

Official Dosomething.org Project

The Problem

I made, decorated and filled Christmas Stockings for the children at Yahweh Homeless Shelter. I bought felt, and then I asked friends to help me and together we cut and stitched 50 stockings in red and green for the homeless children that would staying at the Homeless shelter on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Afterwards I collected donations from my community by talking to groups of people, and sending out e-mails and letters. From all this my friends and I filled each stocking with toys, books, candy and tolietry items that I collected from my community. The stockings were given to the children so they would not feel forgotten on Christmas. I was able to donate not only the 50 stockings but 50 wrapped gifts and several boxes of items that could also be given out.
