Solar Water Heater

Official Project

The Problem

The City of Scottsbluff's tax payers would benefit from this transition since the school and City currently pay over $150,000 per year just to heat water. A completly installed solar water heater would only cost around $150,000. This means it would pay itself back in 1 year! Our environment would also benefit from this transition since we would no longer be relying on a nonrenewable resource.

Plan of Action

A student in our environmental club is trying to convience our school board and city council to change out the old natural gas water heaters for the swimming pools in exchange for a solar water heater. (The swimming pools are shared by the City and the school district so they share the cost of operation.)
